Elegant Burr Walnut Serpentine Desk Late 19th Century

This is a beautiful desk made using burr walnut. It has a wonderful serpentine front and been designed in such a way that it will sit in the centre of a room and viewed from any angle. The top has been inlaid with red leather, tooled with gilt borders, there is a small historic repair to the leather that has been well done. The top has a carved detail to its edge. The corners are all chamfered, the chamfered corners each feature carved acanthus and drapes in deep relief, one back corner is missing the acanthus detail. The desk is supported on ornate carved feet. The piers consist of four drawers each and there is a single centre drawer. The desk retains the original brass swing handles and locking mechanisms. The desk retains two keys for the locks.
